Overview

This policy covers two things separately: GlyphRain (“the app”), by Vincent Galeano, on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and this website, glyphrain.com.

GlyphRain is designed to work without an account or an internet connection for its core features, and the developer does not collect data through the app. The website is described separately, in This Website; its pages contain no analytics and set no cookies.

What the App Collects

GlyphRain has no account and does not ask for your name, email address, or other personal information. The developer does not collect data through the app; its App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected.”

The developer has not integrated any analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs into the app. Its core features (the glyph animation, Reality backgrounds, presets, and the widget) are designed to work without an internet connection. On Mac, Apple’s App Sandbox blocks the app from making network connections.

Apple’s operating systems have their own diagnostics, which this does not change. If you turn on Share With App Developers in your device’s Analytics settings, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with the developer. Apple controls this sharing, not GlyphRain, and you can turn it off at any time.

Camera Access

When Requested

GlyphRain asks for camera access when you choose a Reality background (Clear Reality or Blurred Reality). It is designed to use the camera only while a Reality background is on; with the Reality background set to Off, it does not use the camera.

How the Camera Is Used

  • Live background: the Reality background feature uses your device’s camera to show a live image, clear or blurred, behind the glyph animation
  • No recording feature: GlyphRain has no feature that takes, records, or saves photos or video
  • No sharing feature: GlyphRain has no feature that uploads or shares the camera image. On Mac, the App Sandbox blocks the app from making network connections

How to Turn It Off

  1. Set the Reality background to Off in GlyphRain’s settings, or
  2. On iPhone and iPad, go to Settings → GlyphRain → Camera, or
  3. On Mac, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.

Motion

On iPhone and iPad, the Parallax setting uses your device’s motion sensors to shift the animation as you tilt the device. Motion readings are used as they arrive to move the animation, and GlyphRain does not save them. Parallax is off unless you turn it on, and on Mac it has no effect.

Zoom and pan are not saved. The Home Screen widget reads the speed, density, and blur settings from storage shared with the app on your device.

Backups and Deletion

  • GlyphRain does not sync settings through iCloud.
  • Like other app data, settings can be included in your device’s iCloud or computer backup.
  • On iPhone and iPad, deleting GlyphRain deletes these settings.

Purchases

GlyphRain is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; the developer does not receive your payment details.

This Website

This section covers only this website, glyphrain.com. It does not describe the GlyphRain app.

The website’s pages contain no analytics, advertising, or tracking code and set no cookies.

The website is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub. GitHub logs the IP address of every visitor to a GitHub Pages site for security purposes (see GitHub Pages data collection) and handles that information under the GitHub Privacy Statement.

The pages also load files from other providers: page styling from the Tailwind CSS content delivery network (cdn.tailwindcss.com) and the App Store badge from Apple (toolbox.marketingtools.apple.com). Like any web server, these servers receive your IP address and basic browser information when your browser requests a file.

Children's Privacy

GlyphRain has no account, and the developer does not collect data through the app from anyone, including children.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
